Stichting Nederlands Burgerplatform (NBP)

WHAT IS THE NBP? WHAT ARE THE OBJECTIVES OF THE NBP?

We are a new foundation (stichting) that aims to strengthen democracy and to increase engagement of citizens at a national level. NBP stands for Netherlands Civic Platform (NCP). The foundation was established on 20 June 2018 in The Hague. An initiative of, for and by citizens who want to deliver a contribution to the public debate and equally, who are willing to generate solutions and offer results to politicians in The Hague.

"An initiative of, for and by citizens"

We are neither a movement nor a political party and equally have no ambition to embark on such venues.

WHY THE NBP?

The corrective referendum has been undone since the 24th of November 2017. The abolition of the advisory referendum took place on 10 July 2018. Nowadays, there is a desire more than ever to find a concrete alternative at a nation-wide grassroots level.

"Nowadays, there is a desire more than ever to find a concrete alternative"

The NBP offers this alternative!

WHAT ARE THE ACTIVITIES OF THE NBP?

We are organising meetings, and for the time being, organise once a year a national event. Together with visitors, speakers, opinion leaders, scientists, writers and politicians, discussions will be held about solutions put forward for solving essential political and societal issues.

"Connecting citizens with politicians in The Hague"

We are forming a conjunction between citizens and politicians in The Hague. We are going to ask the lower house of the Parliament and the relevant ministers and secretaries of state to place the outcomes of our meetings on their political agenda and to make decisions about them. Furthermore, we are going to give an account of the political and the decision-making processes on our website.
